Civic Test Questions for the Elderly

To become a US citizen, one must pass the civic test. For elderlys (65 years old and above) who have been US resident for more than 20 years, the civic test will be chosen from a list of 20 questions (instead of the normal 100). To help people study for the test, CUNY listed these 20 questions on this website. To pass the civic test, one must answer 6 out of 10 randomly chosen questions correctly.

Preparing for The Oath: A Naturalization Test Learning Tool

USCIS and Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History launched Preparing for the Oath, a web-based learning tool that helps immigrants prepare for the naturalization civic test. This web-based learning tool is specifically designed to be a self-study tool for the civic test and is based on the 100 civic questions and answers which USCIS draws on for the civic test.

 

Why Become A US Citizen?

Yesterday during a newspaper interview, I was asked the question what is the main reason that an immigrant would want to become an US citizen. I came up with three reasons why a permanent resident would become a citizen (a fourth reason was provided by the interviewer). I am curious as to how accurate these reasons are and whether there are any other reasons why one would choose to become a US citizen. Please vote below:
